Wildlife in Education
This guide book introduces beginning and experienced rehabilitators to wildlife education. It tells how to choose suitable wildlife and how to use exhibits and slides in a presentation. It begins with general care, presents required record keeping, goes into how to cage them for travel, and considers the inevitable cleaning, disinfection, and disposal of wastes necessary on an educational trip and afterwards.

It covers how to avoid zoonotic diseases, recommends immunization against rabies and tetanus and the use of disposable gloves and surgical masks when viewing autopsies, as well as cleaning contaminated quarters. Frequent hand-washing is emphasized. During quarantine, non-releasable animals can be screened for infectious diseases. Vaccination of certain wildlife is recommended. Rehabilitators can tell their physicians they are working with wildlife.

Product information is presented in Appendices, which also tells how to contact the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association for additional information. It presents the regulatory requirements of federal, provincial, and state agencies.

"Wildlife In Education: A Guide For The Care And Use Of Program Animals" is truly a unique contribution to the education segment of the wildlife rehabilitation field.
